The company was and still is seen as an organization created for economic production, which seeks to maximize the monetary profits of its partner (s). However, the company's vision as simply an entity capable of generating monetary wealth for its shareholders, it is no longer the only one. The global community is going through a crisis, which makes rethinking values that were once consolidated, because the vision of production for capital accumulation is shown to be unsustainable, at least to those who aim to perpetuate themselves in the earthly environment, thus questioning how the business entity should behave in this new modernity. Thus, this essay has the general objective of pointing out how social values should influence the change of systems and institutions. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to consider the capitalist system, which gave rise to the modern company, to point out the current socioenvironmental crisis and to define the business entity under the conception of an organization formed to obtain and maximize profits. The methodology used in the study is hypothetical-deductive, using bibliographic research to achieve the proposed objectives.
