THE ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW RATIONALITY: IN PURSUIT OF A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY WHICH ENSURES AN ECOLOGICALLY BALANCED ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

In the background of a severe environmental crisis, which began in the recent decades, resulting from the capitalist model that becomes an object and denies nature and it’s natural resources, causing it to prevail only its value before the economy and generating an economic rationality, of great relevance to seek alternatives that bring solution and balance to environmental problems. Thus, the objective of this research is to bring reflections about the potential represented by Environmental Education in the construction of a new rationality, in an interdisciplinary way, rescuing knowledge and knowledge, in order to allow the consolidation of a sustainable society. The study in comment is justified by the analysis of the current conjuncture, which demonstrates the severity of the environmental crisis experienced by the planet, as well as the patent possibility of depletion of environmental resources. Based on bibliographic and documentary research, and through the use of the deductive method, the result obtained is the proof that environmental education, inserted in the school scenario since the initial years, in a perspective allied to the dialogue of knowledge and interdisciplinarity, is able to form social transformers involved with the minimization of the impacts caused by the action of man on nature , it is imperative to highlight that this represents an important step towards a new rationality and the ideals of a sustainable society, which guarantees the fundamental right to the environment to present and future generations.
